Work Made Easier with Simple Machines

For our simple machines unit, we studied SOL 3.2.  During the unit, the students explored the function and the uses of the six types of simple machines—lever, screw, pulley, wheel and axle, inclined plane, and wedge.  The students created a simple machine PowerPoint by snapping pictures of simple machines located around our school.  At the end of the unit, the students were able to create their very own compound machine.
