3rd Grade Math Menu Mania!

December 7, 2012 · No Comments · Math, Third Grade

From Ms. Freeman:

This year I started Math work stations in my classroom. I wanted to make it a little more fun and creative for my students so I came up with a Math Menu that reflects an actual restaurant menu. It actually has options such as appetizers, desserts and entrees that are Math related. The students love it! They get to pick and choose what they want to do or what interests them the most, but they’re learning all at the same time.

When I first introduced the idea the students wanted to name the “restaurant”:

“What’s our restaurant’s name gonna be?” said one student.

“What kind of restaurant is it? Italian, American, what?” says Ms. Freeman.

“How ’bout Chinese!” says another student.

“Let’s call it Ling Ming Chinese Restaurant!!” says another student.

“Yeeeaahh!!!” exclaim the other students.

“Ling Ming Chinese Restaurant it is!” says Ms. Freeman.

Hey, I made it on TV! Parents, please check out this video to learn more about math workstations in my classroom and what you can do to help your child at home.
