Day 4 Journal, July 12, 2007

12 07 2007

Greeting Campers!  Well, now, week one is almost over.  I know many of you have had some great experiences already and I know there will be more to come during the next three weeks.  Look forward to meeting some interesting people who are employed in professions directly connected to the weather, oceanography, archeology and engineering!

I can tell from your journals that some of you got more than you expected, but have found the teamwork and activities challenging and interesting.  Let’s take a few minutes to reflect and look forward.  Please comment on the items below and have a great weekend.

  1. What was you most memorable experience in camp this week?  This could be something you learned, something the team accomplished, or even a personal discovery.  Please provide details.
  2. What do you feel was your team’s greatest accomplishment so far?  Information please.  You probably want to talk with the team members before you answer this.
  3. What are your expectations for next week?  Does your team have a plan? If so, what is it?

We accimplished a lot of things this week. We learned how to program robots. The inventor part was pretty hard. You had to find everything to program the robot. But we did it. Our greatest accomplishment was learning to build and progam the robots. We all expect to come back next week ready to work and get the job done.

I LEARNED MORE ABOUT THE BROBOY OR ROBOT ABOUT HOW COOL IT IS AND, HOW MUCH STUFF IT CAN DO JUST BY PROGRAMING IT. THEY EXCITING THING THAT WE ACCOMPLISHED WAS WHEN WE FINALLY FINISHED THE ROBOT. NEXT WEEK WE ARE GOING TO START THE ROBOT . THE BIG THING ABOUT IT IS THAT WE ARE ETHER GONIG TO BUILD A TANK OR A BOULDOZER

    SINCERLY,

What was you most memorable experience in camp this week?
The most memorable experience this week was still the first challenge of the whole camp, it was self building, in more wys than I think the teacher would have expected.

What do you feel was your team’s greatest accomplishment so far?
Getting to know one another, for me, that is something that is not done easily. My trust is hard to gain and its hard trusting people with getting things done right. I have always been a firm believer of the statement, “If you want something done right you have to do it yourself.”

What are your expectations for next week? Does your team have a plan? If so, what is it?
My expectations are low, I am sort of a pessimist, so I have low expectations so my expectations won’t get crushed, although it is higher than normal.

Normally my team member is Nicholas, he is a really sweet kid and he tries hard. I am proud to have him as a teammate no matter what.
    ^_^

The week is finally ended and I kind of wish I could get to go tomorrow, besides the part that I want to sleep in. So far I think the best part was the first day I came. Everything was just so new and exciting and fun. The making our shelter was the best part of it. I could see in everyone that they were having fun and not worrying about anything. As for my team of preyy cool people we have been doing a lot better then I would think we could. We worked together very nicely while doing the robot. It was lots of fun trying to build it even If it kept breaking and I started to get all sad and everyone laughed. I think next week will be a lot of fun. My team plans to finish up the work, build and program for the robot, and solve the problems given to us. I’mhoping by the end of this camp I will FINALLY be able to make a robot that can get me a pizza. Oh I wish is more like it.

doing the newspaper activity, finally getting to the robots and starting the ArcMap. making the robots new pieces without braking the robots and i think that was the biggest thing yet. my expectations for the next week would be to see the map that we need to follow for the competition and one thing that is kind of a goal is to finish the newsletter so that we can get that out of the way and another goal is to make more PIRATE BOOTY!!!!!! “^)

Well today was greater than yesterday. I got lots of help in doing it too! It was a little rocky at first but we got into it. Plus, I haven’t gotten to play with legos in a long time. I think our most greatest accomplishment is building our robot. We followed directions and got it done as quickly as possible. But programming is great too but I’d rather build instead. For next week I’d like get to know my team better and get part of our ultimete project done.
    Of course,

The most memorable experience this week is when our team built our first rover robot. It was so cool to actually MAKE one. I’d never done anything like this.

Our greatest accomplishment is not breaking our robot today. Every other day it fell apart! )

I think we will do great on the mini missions. But we don’t have a plan for it.
