Lisa Jordan’s Artwork

Personal Artwork
Since my 1st baby was born almost 5 years ago, I haven’t had much time to spend working on my own art. I used to be able to sit down with my Sharpies and colored pencils and draw to my heart’s content.
These days I’m happy to just to be able to sit down, period. The one thing that has been a constant in my life is my camera. I have always enjoyed capturing the life around me and trying to find the perfect angle. Nowadays most of my photos include my babies but sometimes the opportunity arises to take a few pictures.
Such an opportunity happened this past weekend when we visited a historic farm in King and Queen County. The farm was on 23 acres of land, including the main house, the farmhouse, several fields, a pond, trees, and several horses. Here is part of the “photo documentary” of the hike we took around the grounds, plus a trip to the pumpkin patch.
Now that my son is actually sleeping through the night, I’m going to set aside an hour to create. Just me, my sketchbook and my Sharpies.

Wing
This is my favorite picture. We found this wing of a large bird laying on the trail. After we shooed the dog away, I had to shoo my daughter away. She loves to pick up everything and anything and I could see her picking this up and trying to add it to her “collection”.

  1. I thought the pumpkin image was especially nice. Didn’t you also have one with Cora standing in the field. I liked that one too, unless I am confusing it with someone elses.

  2. The feather image is quite poignant. The textural interest is great. How much did you manipulate the image.
